The McLaren Vale wine region is bounded by the Sellicks Hill Range and the waters of Gulf St. Vincent, providing generous temperate growing conditions. Our vineyard is only 3km from the coast and has varied soil types , aspects and elevations. We grow Shiraz, Tempranillo and Mouvedre all on their own roots.
We began farming much of the vineyard Biodynamically in 2005, and also introduced a mixed herd of sheep and an alpaca to graze and fertilise undervine in Autumn and Winter. This has improved the living soil system and with the aid only of composts, biodynamic soil preparations and low impact farm implements the vineyard has developed its own natural eco-systems .
This minimalist approach is also carried into the production of our wine .Our role is to provide and maintain a healthy environment for the fermentations to happen of their own accord and for the wine to express the fruit from which it was made.
All of our wines are available for tasting and purchase at the Ivybrook Cellar Door, open 11am – 5pm Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays

Tempranillo is a slightly rustic, northern Spanish variety that can produce a savoury, flavoursome wine.
Our Tempranillo displays aromatics of liquorice and spice with a medium weight palate of dark plummy fruit and a lovely tannin texture.
